It’s called Shen disorders. Traditional Chinese medicine has accumulated a rich experience of treating mental disorders. Since 1970’s in China, many research projects of traditional Chinese medicine have been treating mental disorders, especially with electro-acupuncture for treatment of depression. Electro-acupuncture compares to Western medicine for treating depression. The results show that electro-acupuncture improved the condition of depression in patients. Shen treatment protocols for mental disorders depend upon the condition of the problems:

For general mental disorders, treatment consists of about 2 sessions in the first and second week, once a week from the 3rd to the 6th week, twice per month from the 7th week and once per month from the 11th week for about 2-3 months.

For severe mental disorders, treatment regimens are three sessions in a row once a day for the first week; two sessions from the 2nd to the 4th week; then once a week from the 5th to the 10th week; two sessions per month from the 11th week and continue for 2-3 months, and once a month thereafter.
